Each month, the fourth Sunday of the month is set aside as special to the Canoe Camp Church of Christ family. We come together to provide a meal for the community where everyone is welcome. There is no fee for the Fourth Sunday Supper, just come and enjoy the food and friendship. We provide a meal on the fourth Sunday of the month because we know that some folks living on a limited income may find their food dollars not quite stretching to the end of the month and want to provide a healthy meal for those that need it. Our leadership team wants to keep the meals interesting. To that end, a different menu is developed each month. We have had many themes including meatloaf, soups, etc. For the month of May 2018, the main course was Sloppy Joes. For June, the Fourth Sunday falls on the 24th and the main course will be Hot Dogs. In addition to the main courses, church members also provide side dishes, salads, deserts, etc. The friendship atmosphere and the incredible food make this ministry a hit in the community where we serve more than 80 meals on average each month. Feel free to stop by and see what it is all about! Supper runs from 4pm to 6pm.
On June 28, 2009, Canoe Camp Church held its first Free Fourth Sunday Supper with twenty-three people from the congregation and the community in attendance. On June 28, 2015, six years later to the day, eighty-six people were served at the Fourth Sunday Supper. No collection is ever taken; no sermonizing happens, and from 2009 to 2015 over 5,000 mouths have been fed.
